Why I love Type A Clients

Jan 10, 2023

My secret sauce is that I know how to get successful, Type A people open up and get serious about working through whatever’s blocking them. Every person I meet has a unique story, but when it comes to these types, I notice the same three traits again and again:

  • They don’t want to admit defeat
  • They don’t like to ask for help
  • It’s not easy for them to open up

Does this sound like you?

I understand you.

There are a lot of us out there. We want to be in control, and we know that if we just set our mind to our goals, we can persevere on our own. After all, we’ve done it before.

But the reality is, sometimes you do need help. Even the smartest, most capable, most organized people get blocked and backed up sometimes, and that’s not a reflection on their capabilities. It’s just the reality of the chaotic, stressful world we live in. And a big part of what I do is connecting with smart, capable, organized people who are facing obstacles that they just can’t seem to find solutions to.

Those smart, capable, organized people are actually my favorite kind of person to work with. Here’s why: they know themselves. They know what they want, what they don’t want, what they like, and which triggers in their environments set them off. A lot of the time, they also know exactly what they need…the gap is between identifying what they need and actually getting it. That’s where I come in.

I teach my clients how to view their situations differently. When you’ve got a team to run at work and a family to manage at home, the reality is that you’ve got two teams to run. You don’t need to choose one or the other to focus on, you need a strategy that streamlines your leadership role in both.

It’s all about perspective.

You have a clear vision of how your life is supposed to look. You may even have the lists, calendars and vision boards to prove it.

But we live in a world that doesn’t always go according to plan. The smartest people know this. Here’s what they also know: you have a whole lot more control when you focus that control on yourself, rather than your environment.

So no, you can’t prevent your kid from getting hurt at school and having to get picked up or your client from ghosting you. But you can react differently and adapt to the scenarios you find yourself in, rather than adapting those scenarios to fit you.

That’s the kind of thing we can work on together. Because I’ve been exactly where you are right now. I can help you through what you’re facing…if you’re willing to open up and talk about it frankly.

I’ve always been a problem-solver… even when that means thinking outside the box. In every role I’ve held, I’ve helped people shift their perspectives and find silver linings. Even in roles that didn’t directly involve coaching others, I coached. I’ve been a sounding board, a liaison, a strategizer, a negotiator, a consultant, and a change driver. So if you want an outsider’s perspective on a challenge you’re facing, if you’ve got some ideas you need help turning into goals and plans for reaching them, or if you’re having a tough time seeing the silver lining in a situation, reach out. I’m here to help.
